Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about QuickConvert.

General

What is QuickConvert?

QuickConvert is a privacy-first image conversion tool. We support WebP, AVIF, HEIC, PNG, JPG, GIF, and more. All conversion runs server-side using ImageMagick — no JavaScript libraries, no browser-side processing.

Is QuickConvert really free?

Yes. The free tier gives you 15 conversions per day with no signup required. Pro is $20.99/month with a 3-day free trial for unlimited conversions and batch processing.

Do I need to create an account?

No account is needed for free conversions. Only Pro features — unlimited conversions, batch processing, and the customer portal — require an account.

What's the maximum file size?

2 GB on both Free and Pro. There is no artificial cap — the upload limit is set by available memory and server budget.

Can I cancel my Pro subscription?

Yes, any time via the customer portal. Access continues until the end of your billing period. See the renewal & cancellation policy for details.

Privacy

How does QuickConvert protect my privacy?

Original filenames are encrypted before any database write. Uploaded image bytes and converted output are encrypted at rest using XChaCha20-Poly1305. Plaintext only exists ephemerally in memory during the conversion call. After you download, the encrypted file is securely overwritten and deleted.

Where does conversion happen — in my browser or on your servers?

All conversion runs server-side using ImageMagick (with GD as fallback). We never run conversions in your browser using JavaScript libraries, because that would expose the file to client-side code paths we cannot fully audit.

Do you store my converted files?

No. Converted files are deleted immediately after you download them. Stale files are also auto-purged on a 2-hour interval. Since processing is server-side, files are encrypted at rest for the brief window they exist.
